It all starts in Spring 2010: this is when we will take the second step towards realising our dream of the region with the lowest CO2 emissions. Now we will want to place the Smart Home at the centre of our thoughts and actions. What does that mean for you in practice? Your washing machine could in future automatically switch itself on when energy is particularly cheap.
As you can see: MeRegio is and continues to remain the perfect solution for you and the environment!
Smart Grids continues
In this phase we will provide even more customers with the EnBW StromAmpel® (energy traffic light) so that they can use the individual tariff zones. In addition a few customers will also receive a control box which receives the weather-dependent price signal. This makes the Intelligente Stromzähler (smart electricity meter) even smarter because the control box can be programmed and can directly control individual electronic appliances in the home. This means that with MeRegio as many devices as possible operate when energy is particularly cheap. It is also at this time that the contribution towards reducing CO2 emissions in your minimum emission region is greatest. As a MeRegio customer you thus get a double payoff!
The right temperature for the optimum climate
The appliance manufacturer Liebherr is also participating in our project. It is providing us with a few freezers in order to put the intelligence of meter and control box through their paces. In future you will always see the price signal a day in advance. The control box will assist you to use the cheapest and CO2-cleanest energy in your region in the best possible manner. From the price signal and the appliance data it calculates the CO2 efficiency optimum for each individual appliance, for example, for the freezer. For your groceries this means: You always have the optimum temperature in your freezer for the best possible price!
Producers make money
Energy producers can also really start making money now. They profit from the control box, use the price signal but in the opposite way to the consumer. They feed energy into the network when energy is scarce and thus more expensive. MeRegio thus means cash for producers!
Business customers are in the know
Parallel to the vision of the smart home, in the second phase, companies will become smart companies. Entrepreneurs who participate in MeRegio will discover potential in their business which can be maxed with respect to energy efficiency. Even in smaller businesses thanks to the Intelligente Stromzähler the load periods can be seen in real-time and as a result expensive energy-hungry appliances identified. Air conditioning systems can, for example, thus be better controlled and used at various times of the year.
