Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)
The Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT) is responsible for the scientific accompaniment and the development of a certificate for the Minimum Emission Region. This certificate is to be used to draw attention to the success in reducing the CO2 emissions.
In the framework of the scientific accompaniment the legal frame conditions for the new structure in the energy system will be investigated and, amongst other things, on the basis of real data from the model regions online simulations will be carried out for various production and consumption scenarios.
In pure computer simulations (offline simulations) extrapolations will be performed which MeRegio will extend to further areal units and new market models or new controlling strategies. Five chairs from the fields of information technology, economics and law are involved in the project. Subproject manager: Prof. Dr Hartmut Schmeck (hartmut.schmeck@kit.edu).
